Chilmington Green Archaeology Project: Volunteering Opportunity
On Saturday 6th September, the Chilmington Green Archaeology & History Research Group are going to be undertaking a spot of fieldwork in Coleman’s Kitchen Wood near Kestrel Park. We’re going to survey the woodland to try to better determine its age, look at the earthworks, and map what we find.
Coleman’s Kitchen is an historically important but little understood site. We know it may have been used for charcoal burning and quarrying over the last few hundred years, but could it have been used for quarrying during far earlier times? Join us as we try to find out!
We will be on site between 10.30am and 4pm on Saturday 6th. All ages are welcome. Register your interest here: Chilmington@aocarchaeology.com
