AOC Open Day – 26th April 2025

This Saturday, the 26th of April, AOC Archaeology will be hosting a free-entry Archaeology Open Day at the Singleton Environment Centre.

There will be children’s activities, information displays, and archaeological artefacts as well as community archaeologists present to celebrate and display the progress of our Chilmington Community Archaeology Project’s recent focus on the theme of Chilmington in Wartime, which will also be covered in a series of mini lectures in the afternoon.

Thanks to volunteer researchers of the Chilmington Archaeology & History Research Group, the project has uncovered a new understanding of how the local area was impacted by the First and Second World Wars.

This will be a long-running project, and our upcoming research themes, Ritual and Religion in the Stour Valley, and Enduring Landscapes will go deeper into the history, and pre-history of the Chilmington area, and will also be discussed in upcoming lectures this Saturday.
